Practice Kilt: The Home Stretch


The canvas is now complete. I cut and reinforced the opening for the “buttonhole” that a strap will eventually go through, and moved on to finishing the edges of the apron and underapron. While the apron is traditionally finished with a double layer of fringe, I opted to go with a plain edge on this kilt. The fringe left by denim seemed inclined to curl and fuzz, and I didn’t want the edge of the apron looking like rip in a pair of jeans. The button hole is reinforced and basted shut on the right side of the kilt, and there aren’t too many steps left to go:
